Alexander knows it is going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day when he wakes up with gum in his hair, and he is right. Things only get worse as the day goes on: his best friend bails on him, there’s no dessert in his lunch bag, there’s lima beans for dinner and kissing on TV! The only reasonable response is to move to Australia. Judith Viorst adapted her own award-winning children’s book into this marvelous musical that is wacky, wild, and wonderfully wise.

An opera by Hans Krása. Orchestra Miami presents a very special performance of a very special opera- Brundibár a children’s opera that premiered during World War II, became both a symbol of hope, resistance and a Nazi propaganda tool. It was performed 55 times in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, and used as propaganda by the Nazis to show how well the prisoners were being treated in the camp. A classic story of good versus evil, this beautiful piece is a symbol of hope and the triumph of the human spirit.
