Cuban Classical Ballet’s annual gala performance. On the program are the famed numbers Paquita and Fire Bird, as well as newly choreographed pieces. Miami Dade College’s (MDC) MDC Live Arts, Miami’s most eclectic performing arts series, closes its 2017-18 season with a gala event: Layali al-Andalus at 8 p.m., on Saturday, May 12, at the Olympia Theater featuring the National Arab Orchestra and special guests. Miami Chamber Music Society presents the Mainly Mozart Fest, Concert 1 – Opening Performance at the Kislak Center at UM Richter Library starting at 4pm. Praised for their “intelligence” and “immensely satisfying” playing by the New York Times, the Amernet String Quartet has garnered recognition as one of today’s exceptional string quartets, they serve as Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami. The Quartet returns to Mainly Mozart with a program of works by Mozart, Schulhoff and are joined by the festival artistic director Marina Radiushina in a performance of the glorious Dvorak Piano Quintet.
